Capability – many of us have gone (or will go) through a software conversion or EHR implementation at least once in our careers. With any new program, there is generally a lot to learn in a short amount of time and we seldom know what questions to ask until we have worked in the product for some time. Current training methodology indicates short bursts of training to include only what we need to learn to complete specific tasks as best. This type of training is initially beneficial, and after a time we master those basics. It is after this initial period that we can begin to investigate how the system can best benefit us. We can evaluate our current process implementing necessary changes to incorporate those benefits as well as meet best practice.
There are two constants with an EHR; there will always be updates or new things to learn/educate on and no matter when you search for the added features/ benefits of your EHR, you will find some new way to improve your process to oversee care.
