Long before our “partnership” with PointClickCare® was formalized, we at Richter Healthcare Consultants were both a client, and end users of PointClickCare on behalf of our mutual clientele. PointClickCare burst onto the scene in our area in the early 2000’s and we very quickly identified the benefits of the web-based application for our clients. Over the next few years, as we continued to assist Long Term Post-Acute Care (LTPAC) providers with the adoption of the PointClickCare software, we regularly communicated with the folks in support and account management on behalf of our clients. In 2008, we turned this de facto partnership into the real thing. Since then, we have successfully implemented PointClickCare in well over 1000 facilities. At first, we were focused on financial (Admin) and GL/AP implementation, but 5 years ago we added clinical staff to fully round out our services to clients. Our clinicians come to us with years of experience in LTPAC, having been MDS Coordinators, Directors of Nursing and Staff Development, and Home Care Coordinators. They are the best at what they do – and we are lucky to have them on our team.
Our Partnership with PointClickCare has allowed us to meet people from all over the US and Canada – we have worked with clients in all 50 states! This work has granted us insight into regional payers and intrinsic challenges. This has, in turn, allowed us to continue to grow professionally in order to meet the unique needs of the provider community. We have been lucky enough to attend every PointClickCare SUMMIT. We have been exhibitors and sponsors of SUMMIT for the past five years. We also are honored to present great topics for both financial and clinical staff over the past few years. This year we are very happy to be presenting “Audits, ADRs & Documentation”, providing an integrated approach to managing audits and preventing negative findings. We first presented on this topic this past April in a PointClickCare webinar, with unprecedented attendance. For SUMMIT, we will delve a bit deeper into recent audit findings – and how to protect your organization through documentation best practice.
We at Richter are also very excited about the launch of the PointClickCare Home Health Care solution. Home Health clients have struggled with their current software and we are excited to present them with an easy to use, integrated solution for both OASIS and revenue cycle management.
Our Partner Trainers are able to bridge the gap between software and process for our clients. When we begin an implementation, the most important thing we do is thoroughly review how our clients do what they do. There are not many “garden variety” providers out there where a ‘one size fits all’ approach will work. Each organization is unique in its mission, and in their approach to providing the best care possible. We work with our clients to incorporate their practice into the PointClickCare workflow; assisting them with custom configuration, creating assessments and service packages, providing step by step processes for daily care management. We take the implementation even further to help ensure that PointClickCare becomes a true management tool that works for the provider, rather than just a software package that the provider works in. We really believe in the PointClickCare eHR platform – and we work hard to make sure that their clients have the best experience so that they believe in it too.
LTPAC providers are dealing with so many new challenges these days – changes in payment methodology and delivery of care, new quality measures, and potential reimbursement reduction for failure to meet these requirements. More and more states are moving to Managed Medicaid – which challenges both providers and insurance carriers. Medicare Advantage plan enrollments continue to rise, with so many different products to contend with. LTPAC has changed more in the last couple years than it had since the advent of the Prospective Payment System (PPS).
All of these changes make it hard to know what’s what - THAT’s where Richter Healthcare Consultants come in. We stay current on new rules and regulations; we help LTPAC providers incorporate new regulations and best practice into their daily workflow. We work hard to be agents of, rather than reactors to, change.
